This is a super place to visit if you are into history of loom weaving (one area devoted to this). It was a Penines Tweeds weaving mill until 1992 when it closed and then reopened in 2001. It now has little workshops, exhibits the local people's paintings, photography, weaving, felt woodwork, ceramics, pottery, glass, silk, velvet, pewter and other textile work. This is of a high standard and some very contemporary stuff here. Regular exhibitions are held here which are often very inspiring for those into the arts. There is also a very delicious cafe, although not cheap! | |
